Let me explain briefly why I have been M.I.A… I rarely write about personal stuff on the blog but I do feel like sharing about my plans for my move to Taiwan. In case you didn’t know, my boyfriend is Taiwanese and we met almost 5 years ago when he came to Spain for his studies. Now he has graduated it is time to go back, and I’m going with him! A lot of changes are going to happen and I am excited for a new chapter which I will definitely be sharing here on the blog! So for the past month I have been focusing more on family, friends and getting everything done for by the end of august!
Let’s get into the review shall we?
Even though I love the brown-nude lipstick trend going on I can’t pass a bright lipstick in summer! Lancôme L’Absolu Velours in color 362 Peche (30€) is a High pigmented – almost neon – velvety matte finish gloss. Once applied, it feels very smooth for about 2 hours, after I do find the need to apply a bit of lip balm on top for more comfort but the color stays nicely put for up to 4 hours and feels surprisingly pleasant and comfortable for a long-lasting matt lip-gloss. The applicator comes with a flat side to cover generously the lip while the upper thin part allows to draw the outline with great precision! All the color shades of the line are super feminine, daring but wearable. My shade, a neon-peachy-coral pink, makes my tan stand out, brightens up my complexion and puts me in a good mood!
Since I wore the lips this bright, I opted for Pigment Loose Eye Shadow from Kiko (6€) in nº18 White Gold. This is a very pretty brightening fine pigment, cream colored with gold particles and tiny glitters inside. I do have to critique the pigment does not work very well applied on its own, it does require the mixing solution kiko sells along with it. The solution improves the spread ability of the pigment and intensity. Without it, some serious glitter fall out will occur on your cheeks. My local store run out of it so I used Kiko Eye Base Primer (7€, 10 ml) instead. Not ideal for the loose pigments but did help out. I am very impressed with this base though for any other pressed eye shadows and especially to set my eyeliner. The base is lightly pigmented and neutralizes any redness the eyelid may have. It comes with a nozzle applicator so you can get the exact amount you need and don’t have to worry about collecting germs. This is truly a great value for money kind of product!
Those who know me know I love a good cat eyeliner! Rarely will you see me without one and so I had been using liquid liners since the gel ones all dried out and looked too thick or flaky, but Laura Mercier Creme Eyeliner in Noir (€ 20) has giving me new hope! It is a deep, intense black pigment; slides one smoothly and keeps put (in summer might need primer due to oily eyelids); you can build up without flakes; is water resistant and doesn’t need touch ups for at least 8 hours and very important; does not dry out in the jar! Huge thumps up!
No look is finished without mascara, so I opted for Helena Rubenstein, LASH QUEEN FATAL BLACKS waterproof mascara (€ 30, 7 ml). HR does great mascaras; not only are their packaging gorgeous, they truly work great, this one; opens up the eye, lifts up the eyelashes and keeps a great curl, does not migrate since it is WP, no clumps and is buildable for a more natural up to a decent voluminous look. Quiet pricy, but I do like to take care of my eyelashes so I don’t mind every 3 month investing in good mascara.
Sometimes, when it is very humid and hot outside I will skip moisturizer and use this classic favorite of mine Hydrating primer from Laura Mercier (€ 38, 50 ml) in summer it provides enough hydration and when I wear long wear foundations it helps to keep the skin surface smooth and healthy looking. I use it all year round and is definitely worthy the splurge since you are not paying just for a primer; it contains multiple antioxidants, vitamins and hyaluronic acid. The formula is lightweight, has a creamy/gel consistency and feels super comfortable on the skin. Absolutely recommend it for those who have dry to normal skin type!
I am very excited to say I have found a new favorite foundation: Givenchy Teint Couture Long-Wearing Fluid Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 (€ 50, 30 ml). And yes, I am aware it’s very expensive for a foundation, but when the clerk tried it on me and explained to me all of its benefits I could not resist! It is exactly what I was looking for; a foundation that would hold on throughout the whole day but still feel light and not settle into fine lines, that refines the skin’s texture but still has enough coverage to conceal, that gives a radiant and satin finish without looking greasy and on top provides sunscreen protection. It is truly a great foundation and would absolutely recommend it for those who have high expectations and demand a full proof result!
I have been grabbing this week a lot for my Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Tan from Mac (10 g €28.50). Such a pretty versatile product; it can act like a contouring, mattifying and bronzing powder or just as an alternative to foundation. I used it this week more as an overall bronzer and to slightly contour.
Lastly but not least: the brushes! I have finally purchased my first ZOEVA makeup brushes and they are everything I was hoping for! Was not sure to believe the hype, so for anyone who has yet to try them out: believe the hype, everything is true what they say! I did only purchase (so far) 3 brushes: 101 Luxe Face Definer Face brush €19: perfect to apply powder and contour the face, I use it both on loose and pressed powder. 312 Detail Liner Eye brush €7: perfect eyelid line with gel eyeliner, cream eyeliner and eye shadow and the 142 Concealer Buffer €8 : Applies and blend concealer and corrector. All 3 look and feel luxurious and professional. Can’t wait to grow my collection! Another most reached-for brush has been Real Techniques buffing brush for my new foundation, really does a great job and works well with pretty much any foundation for an airbrushed finish and help to really settle in the foundation.
Which ones do you like the best, would you try any of these out?
