If you’re anything like me, during January, after the holidays are over, I tend to feel a bit down and just long for cozying up inside with the help of some ‘essentials’ to get through the winter blues…
1. Turn your home into a Spa
The Body Shop. Japanese Camellia Cream
Last year, TBS took a mission to turn our bathrooms into exotic spas! And although there are a lot of products in this range like massage oils, scrubs and body clays, I only picked up this big stunning jar of body cream to try out. After swapping it on in the shop, I was sold.
Velvet Moisture Body Cream with Camellia Oil from Japan:
I was extremely impressed how luxurious this cream feels, it leaves my skin velvety soft and heavenly fragranced! definitely not your average body cream, it is very, very moisturizing with a dens and velvety texture but does not leave any sticky feeling behind! I am finding myself looking forward to showering at night knowing I have this beauty waiting for me! The scent has relaxing powers and will fill your surrounding!

2. Warm up with a cup of Beauty tea
I am definitely more of a coffee drinker but when it comes to beautifying benefits, I have to give it to the old cup of tea!
Beauty teas are basically a beautifying spin on the traditional tea where beautifying ingredients like super fruits, rose petals etc., are added to a traditional tea amplifying the antioxidant and hydrating benefits that tea already offers. So by drinking a cup of beauty tea, I feel like I am sipping away anxiety, skin impurities and simply feel more beautiful from within, ow, and it taste good and on top of that!
1 LINK Hydrate My Beauty Tea/ green rooibos, goji berries, rose petals and snow pear essence/ 16 sachets / 40 g / $16.00 . 2 LINK BB Detox Tea from Kusmi /Green tea, dandelion, rooibos, mate, grapefruit/125 g Metal Tin ($17) . 3 LINK R.L Linden & Co. /Rites of Spring Greens Beauty Tea/ grassy, slightly minty, herbal infusion/ $ 21.00
3. Pamper your self
Annie’s Way. Lavender Relaxing Jelly Mask.
when spending extended periods of time indoors with the heating on high, its important to keep your skin moisturized and looking glowing.
I had to include this facial mask from Annie’s Way, since it is one of my favorite mask brands since moving to Taiwan and emerging into the mask craze!
Annie’s Way is a very well know brand in Asian, know mostly for its Jelly Masks: they use natural and effective ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and arbutin and don’t contain alcohol paraben, fixature, anti-biotic or steroids. There texture is exactly like a jelly and have very little to no fragrance and color.
There are 10 different types of jelly mask, they come in 250ml jars or in individual packages. I personally prefer the individual packages since they are not more expensive and they provide the right amount of mask for each application, plus you get to try them out before purchasing a whole jar. When you purchase one, you get a spatula with it, witch is key for its application and taking it off. The whole ritual is so enjoyable; it feels cooling, refreshing yet relaxing. This is also one of the few masks I can apply previous applying my makeup; it actually makes it go on smoother. Overall, a very unique and amazing mask.
(do follow the exact instructions for best results!!)
- Soften blackheads that can be scrapped out with the spatula. (I don’t have blackheads, but my friend promised me she had great results with it)
- Softens skin + lifts away impurities
- Minimizes pores
- Super moisturizing
- Brightening & improves skin dullness
- Calms sensitive skin
LINK Annie’s Way Jelly Maks Variety Sampler /250 ml $19 ~ $22 / Individual packages $2 ~ $4 . I bought it in Ximen district (Taipei) at Paris Strawberry shop (巴黎草莓)
4. Create a pleasant environment: Candles
Everything looks prettier in candlelight, and they really help bring a room to life… I am talking about gorgeously packaged, heavenly scented candles… Voluspa Candles! I have the set of the Voluspa Candle Special Holiday Collection which include:
Visions of Sugar Plum: Notes of tart white plum, dried cherry dusted with powdered sugar, toasted hazelnut and lemon zest.
Cinnamon Ceylon and Copal: Ceylon cinnamon and cassia with golden copal resin and amber.
Spruce Cuttings: The scent of royal Colorado blue spruce cuttings freshly snapped and trimmed for a fragrant garland.
– Can you imagine a better set of fragrances on a cold winter day?
The candles might seem expensive but they are made from a blend of high quality coconut wax blend and last a long time, pus, when the candle burns out, you got a gorgeous container for your vanity desk! It takes some time for the smell to develop, but once the wax is melted, you get the most sophisticated fragrance, promise.
5. The power of music
There are many benefits of listening to relaxing music. What I like to do is get rid of all clutter around me, close my eyes or just enjoy some relaxing background music . Here are some of my go – to – songs in my playlist:
Madeleine Peyroux – j’ai deux amours
Carla Bruni – Raphaël
Carla Bruni – Quelqu’un m’a dit
Scarlett Johansson & Pete Yorn – I Don’t Know What To Do
Frank Ocean – Thinking About You
Taylor Swift & The Civil Wars – “Safe & Sound”
Amy Vachal – Dream a Little Dream of Me
Amy Vachal – A Sunday Kind of Love
Madi Davis – Girls Just Want To Have Fun
Now, who is ready for a cozy day in?
