I used to think a red lippie wasn’t an every day kind of shade, but I have grown into this shade and it has pretty much become my go-to colour now. Having this said, I still like to change my shade of red depending on the occasion, so I picked out 3 of my most reached for reds and shared how I would match them up.
I also started a POLYVORE account (with what I made the collage set ups down below). if you have one as well, pleas let me know down below so we can follow each other!

This colour puts me in a happy mood instantly! A very vibrant and bright orange-red colour that goes on smoothly and stays very well put without running. I can even wear it without a lip liner and it will stay put for a good couple of hours. It doesn’t’t dry out my lips either. This is because its formula has Estee Lauders famous multi-faceted pigments that have a time-released moisture complex that seals in hydration (so its minuscule capsules release moister throughout the day).
This lipstick is one of my most comfortable to wear and matches my skin tone whether I am at my pastiest or sporting a newly fake tan!
Day time appropriate : job interview, meetings, etc.
Kanebo Sensai : The Lipstick : Hiwada (10)

I was very skeptic when purchasing this lipstick due to its hefty price tag, but I was told this isn’t just any regular lipstick, after all it is named “The Lipstick”.
This is truly a beautiful product: its elegant gold metal case feels sleek and elegant while the formula has anti aging properties such as pure gold (Golden Phyto Extract, a complex that activates the microcirculation of the skin of the lips), exquisite silk along with botanical extracts (like apricot oil and Japanese lemon extract). So you see, you aren’t just investing in a lips hade, but an advanced proven lip treatment as well.
The shades in the collection are inspired by the refined silk kimono that the Japanese women of ancient imperial would wear. On the picture you can see a full swatch but the colour applies beautifully as well lightly dapped on the lips. The formula applies smoothly without running or setting into the lines and does a pretty good job keeping them hydrated throughout the day despite it having a semi matt finish. My lips feel covered with a unique and lasting color with very subtle gold particles that add softens and luminousity.
Night time appropriate : dinner date, special occasions
Mac Cosmetics: Lipstick : Russian Red

Shade : dark blood red
Undertones: cool blue
Origin: Mac Cosmetics
Price tag: 3 g / €17.00
Scent: quiet strong “vanilla”
I have a bit of a love – hate relationship with this one. On one hand, it gives me that classic red pout – Hollywood Glamour – that I find very elegant and classy, but on the other hand it is very drying on my lips. I definitely have to exfoliate the lips primer or the formula will stick to dry flakes and feel the need to take it off and reapply again after about 3 hours of wear. The blue undertone does make my teeth look whiter but I find it can me look a bit paler if I don’t do some light contouring to my face. Great thing as well about this deep shade is that It looks good whether I wear gold or silver accessories .
What shade is your favourite? Do you often wear red lipstick?
